SEO – No Magical Bullet…

They call everyone… us… you… Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg… they even try to tell Google that they can get their website to the top of search engines… Google is the search engine!

Don’t be a victim of SEO and digital marketing scams that prey on small business owners. It can cost you plenty.

Get this –

There is NO expert that can guarantee first page results for your website.

Consider this… if you want to improve the performance of your car, your mechanic probably needs to look at the engine…

So, if you have engaged someone to do your SEO – have you given them full FTP access to your website?

Did you hand over your hosting username and password.. ?

Are you sure of who they are?

Is this a reputable company that you know well?

YOU HAVEN’T?

….yet they are charging you for SEO.

So what are they doing?

That’s a bit like asking a mechanic to service your car without access to the engine.

Oh.. I see.. they’re telling you that thousands of ‘back links’ are the way to go.. so they spam millions of websites with your details, hoping that someone will link to you by accident.. and they do.

And, yes back-links do help unless.. it’s a back link from a ‘rude’ site or two and then what…?

Google will remove your website completely.

Never to be seen again and if this happens you’re in deep dog ‘do-do.

Scammers prey on your ignorance.

First rule of SEO is to ensure that a website is working properly and coded well, with the best use of keywords on the front end and within the coding.

Anyone offering SEO without doing that firstly .. is just taking your money knowing that you don’t know any better.. and why would you.. it’s pretty complicated stuff.

There is nothing magical about SEO – it’s a matter of doing the work, knowing what the search engines require (and yes that changes constantly) and keeping your website up to date.

It takes time for your business website to appear in the search engine results, but be patient and persistent. Implementing a solid content marketing, social proof and SEO strategy will have the greatest impact on your business.
