Before You Write Anything for Social Media, a Blog, or an Email… ask Yourself This

Will your words have any significance?
Will they have an impact on the reader?
Will they make someone remember you?
Build a relationship?
Move them?
Position you as an expert?

If not, maybe don’t bother.

Yes, you heard that right…

Oftentimes, we can get into the habit of posting for posting’s sake… because we feel we should… ‘cos that’s what we’re supposed to do right?

No!

Ideally, everything you write and post about needs to have a purpose.

That purpose may be to inform, persuade, advise, laugh, divide, amuse or p*ss off.

With purpose behind it, you’ll write with passion and enthusiasm too. And that means it’ll be more engaging to your audience.

Content without purpose and without meaning makes you irrelevant.

So next time you’re thinking of posting, just stop for a moment and think about the purpose behind it first.
