4 Critical Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Advertising on Facebook

Are you Advertising via Facebook?

Someone I know who spends over $65k a year with Facebook had his account (and all associated accounts) shut down without warning.

Imagine.

After many months of begging Facebook, he finally got his account back and could start again. Although he is now thriving again, it wasn’t worth the headaches and the potential loss of his business, all because he didn’t really know the Facebook guidelines.

If you upset Facebook by not playing nicely with them and following the rules, your account can be closed down.

That means all your friends, likers, followers… lost.

And, Facebook is one of the most powerful advertising mediums for your business – not an opportunity to dismiss.

4 CRITICAL things to know:

1. The BIG ONE: Facebook does NOT like claims in your adverts or landing pages.

Any claims at all… whether it’s a claim about weight loss, hair growth, a greener lawn, whiter teeth, or a bigger tax return. Doesn’t matter.

In their terms of service they stipulate that they don’t want ‘unsubstantiated claims’, but really – the safest bet is to steer clear of making claims at all in your ads and landing pages.

2. Keep your ratio of approved ads to unapproved ads high.

More unapproved ads puts your account on their radar for review and monitoring. You don’t want this. Trust me.

Be careful about how you put your ads together and follow their strict guidelines and you will be fine.

3. When targeting your audience, you need to produce and maintain a good relevancy score.

Low scores lead to a higher number of complaints (which is no good)

4. Finally, your Facebook adverts need to offer the type of content that Facebook wants for their users.
