WHY YOU SHOULD DITCH THE JARGON
BELIEVE ME. AIN’T NO ONE.. …NO ONE I TELL YOU
that your writing is TOO EASY to understand.
Whenever you write *anything* to help promote your business –
say..a web page, a Facebook post, an advert, a brochure, a blog piece… etc,
keep it nice and simple.
….ditch the big words where you can
….and the technical terms
….quit the jargon
Shorten long sentences.
Like that. ^^^
Or this. <<
And write in an easy, ‘every day’ conversational style.
It may seem odd to you at first, but hey.. try it.
It’s so much easier to engage with someone if they can understand what you’re trying to say.
Just to give you an example….
I was doing a consult recently.
The CEO insisted I look at their brochure and website.
Opening paragraph of each…
I nearly choked on my bloody Werthers Original I can tell ya….
Look at this….
” We recently successfully obtained additional quality assurance and safety and environmental certifications, thus strengthening our skillset and fostering continual growth and development.”
It’s just wrong .. on .. every… level..
I wanted to crawl away into a safe corner…
As for ‘THUS’
Who the #*@# (strong expletive) says ..thus..?
